Remember when you would make something at school during arts and crafts to bring home to Mom? Gifts made by hand are a unique way to show your love for mom. The possibilities are endless using your own creativity: knit, crochet, collage, make a photo album, write a poem, etc, etc.etc. DIY not your thing? Search for a gift on Etsy.com. Three of my favorite shops are Soul Kisses, Sunshine Meg Boutique, and Bird of Virtue, all owned by fabulous creative women.
Treat Yo’ Mama
You can never go wrong with a little (or a lot) of pampering. Book a massage or a mani-pedi, sponsor a shopping spree, or give her flowers. Let Mom relax and have a day free from chores.
High Tech Mama
Mom loves staying up to date with the latest technology as much as anyone. Tablet/smartphone accessories are a great way to enhance the user experience of those things. Or help her meet her fitness goals with a fitness tracker like FitBit, that will count steps, measure distance traveled, and even track sleep. Keep her entertained with a streaming media device like the new Amazon Fire TV. And remember to make sure that she knows how her gift works so that she’ll get the most out of her gadgets.
A new mom will appreciate any of the above gifts as much as a seasoned pro. But she may also need a little extra support and inspiration as she completes her initiation. A membership in a local mother’s group is a thoughtful gift that will help her connect with other women going through the same challenges and triumphs. Or you might consider the New Mama Welcome Pack, a virtual support package with inspiring content from myself and over 60 other contributors. I love this one because it focuses on Mom’s well-being.
